Heja App Directions

NSC is encouraging our coaches to use Heja, a free sports team management app, this season.

Heja will allow you to easily track attendance at practices and games. We know attendance tracking is really important and it can also be difficult for coaches to manage. We hope this app can make that process easier for coaches and families. 

You can also use the app to communicate with your families, but you may also decide that email is still the preferred communication method for various reasons.

To get started, you will need to:

• Set up your team in Heja
• Invite your families to your team (NSC will provide you with a roster that includes your parent email addresses)
• Add your practice and game schedule, once those are known 
• Instructions for each of these steps can be found below.
  
  

SETTING UP YOUR TEAM

1. Download the Heja App
To create a Heja account, start by downloading the Heja mobile app:

• iOS or Android – Search for “Heja” in the App Store or Google Play.
• Once the app is installed, open it to get started.

​2. Creating a New Team 

• If you're setting up a team for the first time:
  • Select Create team instead of Join team.
  • Follow the steps to add your team details and get started.
  • For continuity, we suggest you create the team with the team name that NSC has given your team (e.g., BU13 Blue [Hoag])
  • This will create your account and your new team at the same time.

INVITING FAMILIES

In Heja, every player, parent and coach needs to create their own profile -- you are not able to add someone yourself (unless you are managing your child's account).

• Click the Team tab at the bottom left of your screen
• Select Members at the top of the screen and scroll to the bottom
• Copy the Team code and paste it into an email to your families

ADDING PRACTICES & GAMES

To add an event to your Heja Schedule, first, make sure you're set as team Admin, then click the "+" icon in the upper right corner of your Schedule tab to input the title, location, time & date, etc.

Here, you can also choose if it's a re-occurring event. This can be found in the time & date section. Just switch the toggle on.

Once you've filled in all the details, click "Create."

INSTRUCTIONS TO SHARE WITH PARENTS

Joining a team for the first time as a parent? Follow these steps to set up your profile and connect to your child all in one go!

• On the Start page press Join Team and enter the team code that was shared with you
• On the next screen select "I'm a parent to a player"
• You will then be prompted to setup your account with Google, email or Apple (if on iPhone). Choose which one works for you and enter the code you receive to your email
• You will then have the option to select or setup your child's profile:
  • Select: If your child's profile has already been setup by one of their other parents/guardians, you can select their name from the list. A request will be sent to their existing connection who will need to approve the request. (They can do so in their You tab). You can select multiple children here
  • Setup: If your child's profile is not yet set up please select "Not listed? Add child" at the bottom of the screen. You can then add their details and press continue to finish the process. You can add multiple children if needs be
