Registration Information
The link will take you to our online registration system – if you have a Sports Connect account from past registrations with NSC, you can log in and the NSC Spring 2023 registration will show up as an available program for your child(ren). The registration page for NSC Spring 2023 includes information required by Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), Roots Soccer League, and NSC.
Please note the following:
Please note the following:
- U9-U14 Travel Soccer players new to NSC will need to upload a headshot photo and proof of age (birth certificate/passport) during the registration process
- MYSA requires NSC to include certain questions in its registration. This means you will be asked about "parent 1" role, "parent 1" home phone, and several questions about "parent 2". Please complete all questions related to “parent 1” and “parent 2” as required (which are denoted by an asterisk (*).
- You do not need to upload anything to the "SafeSport 17 PG Consent OR Older ONLY" field.

Financial Assistance
NSC strongly believes that ability to play should not be based on ability to pay. Financial assistance is available for all programs and uniforms. Parents and guardians are encouraged to inquire about financial assistance as NSC wants all interested players to participate. Please contact the registrar (registrar@northamptonsoccer.org) for more information. NSC also organizes an equipment swap at the beginning of the Spring Season.

FAQs
I got an email from Blue Sombero, Sports Connect or Stack Sports - who is that? When your online registration is complete, you will get a confirmation email. Please note this email, and future emails regarding your player, may come from Blue Sombrero, Sports Connect, or Stack Sports. These three entities are one in the same, so please be sure to check your spam filter. We no longer use SportsEngine so there is no need to access that account.
I already created an account to register in the Fall of 2022? If you created an account to register for the Fall Season, please use that account to register for the Spring Season. Any accounts used to register before the Fall of 2021 are no longer valid.
How much does it cost to register a player? The cost for registration depends on your player’s age.
What are the different NSC programs?
When does the season start? Trainings generally start on or shortly after April 1st, and first games are scheduled around April 22nd.
What is the time commitment? Players are expected to train with their teams two times per week, and then participate in games. Games are generally scheduled on Saturdays, though there can be weekday games. Many players also participate in other sports during the spring season. We encourage all players to make at least one training, and to participate in games as roster sizes are often smaller.
Who will coach my child? NSC is a volunteer-based organization. Officers, directors and coaches are volunteers. All volunteers, however, must complete certain training and background checks to be certified by Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association.
Do I need a uniform? Players participating in 9U-14U (or older) must wear an official NSC uniform. Information for NSC uniforms is available during registration, but generally cost around $65 for two jerseys, shorts and socks. Financial assistance is available. For Development and 8U players, uniforms are provided as part of the registration fees.
Do all players play equally in games? Playing time during games depends first on age, and then on a number of factors. For teams younger than 11U, coaches are instructed to provider players with equal game participation. For teams 11U and older, considerations for playing time include whether the team is in Division 1 or not, training participation, skill, experiences, standings and real-time game adjustments.
Where are trainings? Trainings are held at Florence Recreational Fields, which are located at 145 Meadow Street, Florence.
Can my child play for NSC if we do not live in Northampton, Florence, or Leeds? Town-based travel teams require residency to participate. It is possible to obtain a waiver if your child attends school in Northampton or there is no travel team at your child’s age group in the Roots Soccer League in your home community. Out-of-town players need to pay an additional $25 at registration, which is the fee charged by the Northampton Recreation Department to NSC for out-of-town players. Waivers must be requested for each season, so a player’s ability to participate with NSC may change from season to season.

What are the different NSC programs?
- The Travel Program allows players with advanced interest and abilities an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the game and to challenge themselves at a higher level of competition with players at the same level from surrounding towns. Travel teams may also compete in regional tournaments with teams from Massachusetts and other states. Travel is open for U8 - U14 (8th grade). Preference is given to players from the fall season travel teams who went through the evaluation process last year.
- The Development Soccer Program is geared toward players from kindergarten, first, and second grades and emphasizes skill building and 3v3 game dynamics. Practices generally occur one afternoon per week, and then on Saturday mornings for approximately 7 weeks. This program also seeks volunteer parents who are interested in beginning their training process as coaches.

What is the difference between Recreation, Travel and Premier Soccer?
- Recreational soccer is run by the Northampton Parks and Recreation Department in the Fall only. This program is focused on beginners seeking to try out the game of soccer in a less competitive environment.
- Travel teams are town-based teams that participate in Roots Soccer League. Travel soccer includes players of all different levels that are bound by their hometown or school, but also offers competitive play. NSC offers players Travel soccer only.
- Premier is usually reserved for players seeking advanced training, development and competition. Teams are usually regional, and travel across the Commonwealth, New England and even other parts of the country to compete. NSC players do participate on Premier teams located in Western Massachusetts.
