*** Update:  Northampton Health Department Opens Youth Sports, 3/1/2021 ***

Following encouragement from NSC members at the Feb. 18 Board of Health meeting, Northampton Health Director Merridith O’Leary has enthusiastically lifted restrictions put in place in November:  "With the number of new cases in steady decline in our area, I’m excited to root on Northampton teams and to watch city children enjoy the physical and mental benefits of organized athletics.”   (Source)

In light of these changes, NSC has extended spring registration. See the information and link below.

Costs: Registration for Travel Soccer will be $150 per player.
Training Program Alternative: While NSC will not be offering an intramural program as it did in the fall, players can participate in a training capacity (practices) only.  The cost for training is $120.00, and this fee is based upon the Club's costs less fees owed to RSL for play in its league.  A player participating in a training capacity may attend all events, i.e., practices, trainings, and/or informal scrimmages but not RSL sanctioned games.   The player does not appear on the official RSL roster.
Development Program: NSC is also in the process of revamping and enhancing its Development Program. The plan is to hire one or more dedicated coaches to run the program and to also have these coaches oversee soccer-experienced high school volunteers.  The program may still require parent participation. More information, including final costs, will be forthcoming.
COVID-19 Safety: The decision to compete in RSL for the Spring Season is based upon the experience of NSC teams that competed in the RSL Fall 2020 season and in consultation with RSL and the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

For information on the most current status of return-to-play protocols, rules and information, please visit MYSA's Return to Soccer Activities Page.  Generally, all participants (players, referees, coaches and spectators) must be masked, and spectators are limited. As of November 2020, however, normal game rules have been reinstituted.

Weighing the risk of play is a personal decision, but for information relating to youth sports, please confer with your local Board of Health and your health care provider.   Also, the following resources may be helpful:
